Digital Controller
INTRODUCTION:
The Digital Controller is a closed loop servo controller for tension and compression testing machines. It is a presettable unit that simplifies materials and product testing and requires a minimum amount of training. The load and crosshead position inputs plus enhanced closed-loop servo capabilities for accurate and repeatable testing. It provides one pre test and two test control segments. This controller is an inexpensive and easier-to-use alternative to PC/Windows based materials testing systems. It can store six test methods in memory so that the operator can perform a variety of tests quickly and error free. Applications include testing adhesives, biomaterials, cables, connectors, film, food, plastics, metals, textiles, nonwovens, rubber, springs, wire plus multiple other products.
Features:
» Indicate load, position, and position rate during the test and all active test results when the test finishes.
» Save and recall six test methods for accurate and repeatable testing.
» Password protected supervisor/operator modes allow test methods to be locked under password so they cannot be changed inadvertently.
» Calculate key test parameters such as peak load, peak stress, minimum load, average load, load at break, deflection at break, load at deflection, deflection at load, stiffness, energy, free height, offset yield and more.
» Selectable high and low limits for each test parameter enables pass/fail indication at test completion.
» Calculate high, low, mean and standard deviation for a group of tests.

» Store up to 300 test results to permanent memory. Test results include date, time, specimen ID# plus all calculated test parameters.

Test Reports
Use the Data Communications Program to upload test methods, calibration information, test results and raw XY data to a remote computer via an RS232 port. Print/view results, load-deflection or stress-deflection curves. Convert data and results to ASCII delimited format for import into common spreadsheet and database programs. Group Test Report - Import a group of test results into Microsoft Excel and generate a hardcopy printout. Results include: date, time, and specimen ID# plus all calculated test parameters. Single Test Report - View/print the current test results including a load-deflection or stress-deflection curve from WinCOM Plus. Multi-plot - View/print up to ten curves on the same set of graph axes.

Servo Control Features
All test methods have one pre-test control segment which can be used as a fast pre-load function. Configure up to a 2 segment test profile. Each segment includes a user defined position rate and end channel which is either load, position, time or sample break. Use the cycle between segments function to perform a sawtooth shaped cyclic test profile. Connect to brushed or brushless motors or hydraulic servovalves.

Simple Menu Driven Programming
Acquisition Menu
Threshold :
Specify the load at which data logging begins
Sample Break : Input as a percentage of peak load a value that defines the end of test
Specimen Type : Select specimen type and input specimen dimensions
Log Rate : Select a log rate from 0.5 to 1,000 HZ
Local Overload : Select a load value less than or equal to the capacity of the active load cell. Activates output to stop machine to protect load cells and fixtures
Engineering Units : Specify load, stress, displacement, and time units

Servo Control Menu
Test Profile : Specify up to two test control segments under position rate control
Direction : Specify a tension or compression test
Post Test : After test stop or automatically return to home
Jog Rate : Input speed for manual jogging of test frame
Home Location : Input home location
Home Rate : Input speed for returning to home
Pre Load : Input pre-load value
Pre Load Rate : Input position rate during pre-load
Control Gains : Specify PID gains for servo tuning of position and load hold channels

Analysis Menu
Select Analysis : Select which analyses to calculate including peak load/stress, offset yield, stiffness, energy, average load and more
Set Limits : Set high and low limits for each analysis to determine test pass/fail
Auto Transmit Results : Activate auto transmit results out RS-232 serial port immediately after test completion
Calculate Results : After test is complete, recalculate analysis results. Useful when an analysis setup parameter must be changed after test completion
